Pop 2 Talk

I had a great opportunity to work as a fixed-time 2D artist for Hokema Oy on their game Pop2Talk, which is a space-themed match-3-mobile game aimed towards younger kids to help them learn language. My main responsibilities were concepting and finalizing any 2D art needed, for example backgrounds and UI assets.

Since the theming of the game revolved around space and spacetravel, the player's spaceship was also a big focus. All the ships were planned to be made of three separate "parts", which could be mixed and matched together so kids could build the exact kind of ship they wanted.

One of the main things I also worked on were the different screens, like the main shiphub screen, collection screen, shop screen and the word pearl screen. Each element on each of the screens is separate, and for the shiphub screen the walls, floors and windows were also planned to be customisable.

I also got to work on some of the planets the player can visit! The backgrounds are the ones that you see during the match-3-gameplay. These were really fun to work on since I was given pretty much free hands on the theming on each planet.

The UI and button designs were also my favourites to work on. I've never done any UI work before but I found it really fun and it's definitely the type of stuff I'd like to do in the future.
